ENGINEERING DIRECTOR

The Director of Engineering is a senior executive who will manage and oversee the Engineering team.
This individual will be responsible for the technical and engineering expertise required to develop, implement, and maintain the product’s cycle of life inside our organization.
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for developing and implementing technical strategies and plans that align with the company’s overall business goals.
This includes driving innovation, optimizing resources, and ensuring the delivery of quality products or services to our customers.
The engineering director also will lead and manage the engineering team, ensuring that all members are working effectively and efficiently towards the goals set forth by the organization.
In addition to managing the team, the Director of Engineering will also be responsible for setting and managing budgets, timelines, and resources related to engineering projects.
This position will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including the Production Director, NPI, sales, Quality and Finance and provide customer support, to ensure that the engineering team is aligned with the needs of the business.
Responsibilities.
• Process Improvement.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains and lead the implementation of these improvements.
This may include equipment upgrades, workflow adjustments, and automation.
• Cost Reduction.
Identify cost-saving opportunities in the manufacturing process, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing waste.
• Training and Development.
Provide training and development for assembly team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to assemble lighting products efficiently.
• Data Analysis.
Analyze production data and metrics to make informed decisions and implement data-driven improvements • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff • Oversee the design, development, and testing of new products and systems • Manage engineering budgets and resource allocation • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements • Responsible for driving both foundational and transformational competencies within the Lean Organization and across the manufacturing plant.
These competencies include but are not limited to Value Steam Mapping, Visual Management, Work Standardization, Gemba Engagement, Kanban, SMED, 5S, Pull Systems, etc.
With these core competencies, this role will partner with Operations and the Lean Manufacturing Supervisor to improve plant performance in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Innovation.
The intent of this role is to decrease overall manufacturing cost, increase operational efficiencies, and drive waste from the production processes in conjunction with the strategy of the Lean Organization Essential Know-how and experience.
• 15 or more years on Electronics Manufacturing Environment (SMT, Wave Process, Conformal Coating, Potting and over all Box build Assemblies.
• Familiar with the EMS environment.
• Experience in driving the team in a very fast growth environment.
• Experience in driving customers improvement plans.
