Job Description Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) distributes a wide range of medical and surgical devices used to diagnose and treat diseases.
The OCA Professional Affairs department educates health care providers on the safe and effective on-label use of those products and related clinical topics through Olympus Continuum courses and online educational learning experiences.
Additionally, the department supports the equipment operations and onsite needs for independent Third-Party medical education Workshops supported by the Olympus Grants department.
This position is responsible for independently using expansive product knowledge and clinical expertise to support the safe and effective use of Olympus products during Olympus professional educational courses and 3rd party in-kind equipment grant workshops.
Job Duties Independently provide educational support on the safe and effective use of Olympus products for all Prof Ed programs, generally with a focus on larger, more complex program across multiple business units.
Supports clinical educator and equipment operations teams with operational issues that arise and uses skills and experience to trouble shoot and provide solutions.
Work collaboratively with Prof Ed Curriculum Development Managers and Program Managers on the delivery of educational programs.
Support and enhance the quality of educational components of Professional Education courses based on collaboration with marketing, Curriculum Development, and Program Managers.
Perform review of all educational materials following internal review process and ensure all product usage falls within instructions of use, confirm clinical material, and submit for approval.
May serve as alternative for Curriculum Development to support content updates.
Support implementation and execution of on-site educational courses.
Determine accuracy and completeness of Olympus products, models, and non-inventory items required for Professional Education courses and order these resources to support effective learning experiences.
Coordinates lab session layout, timing, and rotations.
Manage inventory, set-up, and breakdown of equipment at professional education courses.
Expected to deliver a variety of complex Olympus clinical nurse and tech trainings, both virtually and in-person.
Collaborate with Equipment Operations personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of Olympus products, models, and non-inventory items ordered for 3rd party in-kind equipment educational grants across multiple business units.
Utilize clinical background and support discussions with site faculty to assess and ensure Olympus products are appropriate for the organization’s learning objectives.
As assigned, lead the onsite logistics and equipment management for in-kind educational grant workshops, supporting larger, more complex events across multiple business units.
Understand and interpret compliance and legal guidelines regarding the in-kind Grant workshops.
Ensure compliance guidelines are being met in the execution of workshops.
Identify compliance and/or legal risks.
Report issues as directed.
Job Qualifications Required.
Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field, or equivalent internal experience, is required.
Must have and maintain at least one current, relevant clinical license or certification.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in Clinical role at a medical device company or experience working directly with medical devices in a clinical setting, at least 5 years of which must be internal experience in a Clinical Educator, Curriculum Development Manager, CES, CAS, or equivalent advanced field based clinical educator role.
Professional certification or license in a related clinical field is required.
Must be flexible to work up to 5-6 weekend days a month.
Must be available to travel up to 60% of work time.
Most travel is within the US, however international travel may be required.
Ability to travel via airplane is required.
Ability to operate a vehicle is required.
Candidate must be comfortable working in a training environment in which human cadavers, live animals, animal tissue and other synthetic tissues are being used in a humane way to support training needs.
Preferred.
Demonstrated clinical expertise with medical device and procedural knowledge across multiple specialty areas Proven strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Be flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and apply technical product information.
Exhibited technical expertise to identify and troubleshoot technical product issues.
Demonstrated successful track record of managing and balancing multiple assignments with overlapping timelines in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Proven experience with facilitation and execution of multiple different types of medical device training programs across multiple business units.
Demonstrated experience with successful training and supporting of peers.
