Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.
his segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose Ensure process control and stability by  improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities, Participate in new processes for the manufacture of new products, Lead manufacturing improvement initiatives, including variability reduction, defect reduction, process control improvement.
Key Responsibilities Plan, organize and execute work-streams on projects to deliver process improvement   Evaluate process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, institutes continuous improvements to existing manufacturing operations through process automation/semi-automation  Project work scope typically includes equipment selection (design, development)manufacturing installation, start-up and acceptance (Pilot, Pre-Pro Runs & EEM)  Role includes individual contributor and project work-stream leadership responsibilities  Develop and update manufacturing process documentation, (MPIs, VAs,) Work with and facilitate alignment between manufacturing, development and upstream process experts.
Manage internal Corning resources to complete project deliverables  Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges  Utilize basic statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean methodologies to develop process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes.
Support execution of roadmap and project portfolio  Support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution  Apply process engineering knowledge, skills and expertise from concept through delivery of process at production areas Experiences/Education - Required Education   Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic, Industrial Engineering or related.
Work Experience   0-2 year experience in manufacturing engineering  Skills English skills B1/B2 Yellow Belt Certification (Plus) Six Sigma knowledge, understanding of statistical analysis (histograms, regression analysis, standard deviation, GR&R, DOE etc.)    Lean Manufacturing knowledge  Problem solving processes understanding   Project Management knowledge  Self-starter who is able to meet expectations for their objectives and timelines with appropriate supervision.
