About this opportunity – Background At Volvo Cars, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.
In our Chassis Department, a key focus area is the development of screw joints, both for standard applications and innovative new methods of connecting chassis components, such as link arms to subframes.
We are seeking two ambitious students to develop theoretical models that predict maximum load capacity in our applications.
This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our chassis technology, with a focus on Material Science, CAE Simulations, and Physical Testing.
Scope of the thesis work •    Developing a reliable theoretical model that accurately predicts load limits for screw joints in our chassis components.
•    Validating these models through simulations and physical testing, ensuring they align with real-world scenarios.
•    Proposing new methods or optimizations for improving the strength and durability of screw joints.
•    Contributing to the design of lighter, stronger, and more efficient chassis systems by optimizing joint performance.
What you´ll bring What profile are you looking for, any certain program of studies, key competencies…do the student need to be on site to do the job or can the work be done remotely? Duration •    The work will start in to be discussed •    The duration for this thesis work is 20 weeks.
•    30 ECTS (academic credits) if in agreement with your Thesis Advisor in University •    This thesis is to be conducted by 2 Students working in pair.
