THESIS WORK - LINUX SUSPEND/RESUME KERNEL AND USERLAND ENHANCEMENTS

All thesis projects are arranged in business critical areas and therefore you will be able to contribute to our company purpose – providing freedom to move in a safe, sustainable and personal way – from day one!    Background The Linux kernel's swap suspend feature offers an efficient way to manage power consumption and system recovery.
However, its existing implementation may not be optimized for diverse use cases, such as custom hardware configurations or specific performance requirements.
This gap in functionality presents opportunities for improvement through userland tooling that enables users to create customized suspend/resume images tailored to their unique needs.
Scope A successful candidate will design and implement userland tooling that enables users to generate custom suspend/resume images tailored to their specific system configurations.
This includes developing software tools, measuring and analyzing system performance under various conditions (e.
., image compression algorithms, storage devices, hardware architectures), and evaluating the impact on resume path performance in both virtualized environments and real-world embedded systems.
Do you fit the profile •    A successful candidate should be able to write code in at least one programming language (C/C++, Rust, Python) •    Background in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, or another relevant field •    A successful candidate should have good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently •    It is meritorious to have some understanding of the Linux kernel, system performance analysis and measurement tools (e.
., perf, ftrace), virtualization technologies (QEMU) and/or embedded systems development.
Duration •    The work will start in (exact date up to the students) •    The duration for this thesis work is 20 weeks.
•    30 ECTS (academic credits) if in agreement with your Thesis Advisor in University •    This thesis is to be conducted by 2 Students working in pair.
