Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.
his segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the products (direct and raw materials) produced by Corning suppliers meet the quality standards that are set.
This role will work closely with suppliers, Corning receiving plants, and GSM to effectively manage the quality of the supplied materials.
Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
Collaborate with suppliers to identify and rectify quality issues.
Use problem-solving techniques, Six Sigma tools, statistical analysis, and other methodologies to improve supplier quality.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce cost, and improve supply chain efficiency.
Supplier Development.
Develop and maintain partnerships with suppliers.
Train suppliers on quality requirements and monitor their performance.
Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to define process parameters, and ensure that supplier processes meet quality requirements.
Ensure proper documentation of supplier quality data, audits, non-conformances, corrective actions, and quality tests.
Ensure suppliers comply with relevant regulations and standards in their products and processes.
Manage projects related to supplier quality, such as new supplier qualifications, process changes, and corrective action implementation.
Ensure product integrity by the execution of the product quality architecture strategy (APQP and IATF Core tools) Perform Quality Systems, Process and Product Audits, using applicable Quality Standards and specifications– to ensure that processes comply with Corning Quality Requirements.
Collaborate with the various Corning Supplier Quality teams Provide periodic progress updates on execution of the roadmap Experiences/Education - Required Bachelor of science in engineering 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance, quality engineering, or a related field 2 plus years of experience in supplier quality management and supplier development   Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards.
Proficient in quality-related tools and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, statistical analysis, etc.
