Industrial Design as a discipline is a key part of Volvo Cars' strategy and you will have the opportunity to help build the newly formed ID organization.
We are seeking a Senior Industrial Design Manager to lead projects and develip stratgeies within Charging, Accessories as well as support the car programs through physical UX touchpoints.
Main responsibilities include.
As a senior Industrial Design Manager on the Design team, you will work on defining and building a safe and care-free experience for our users, whether drivers, passengers or users of Volvo’s non-car products.
Your responsibilities will include identifying problems to be solved, mapping out desirable and feasible solutions for our users (e.
., utilising user journeys), and prototyping that balances design aesthetics with intuitive functionality.
You will collaborate with other designers to ensure a seamless customer experience across Volvo’s portfolio of products and offerings on a global scale.
And as part of a product team, you will communicate designs, ideas, and rationale with your team using data and customer insights.
As a designer you will advocate for the user and develop a deep understanding of our customers' needs and pain-points, serving as an expert for your product team and develop ideas for new and enhanced features.
The role is highly collaborative in nature and will require strong relationship building within and outside of the global design team.
Who you are.
● Have been designing for 10+ years for a consumer-focused tech company, so you understand what it takes to create elegant, consumer-oriented experiences.
●  Are a versatile designer who uses a full range of skills—product design, interaction design, and visual design — to ensure you deliver magical experiences to the customer.
●  Are a strong collaborator, who can work with not only design partners, but many other stakeholders from marketing to engineering.
●  Are a strong communicator.
Who can inspire teams towards action and empathy for the user.
●  Have a people-focused design mentality.
Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback.
Whether that’s hands-on user research or a quantitative A/B test.
●  Able to provide a portfolio of projects (or samples of preview work) to which you have made a substantial contribution and/or make a portfolio presentation as part of the selection process.
