The " Scientist for Analytical Chemistry and Microbiology " position is designed to perform physicochemical and microbiological tests for beverages and ingredients, support the Microbiology Environmental Monitoring program for the Pilot Plants and R&D Labs, responsible for analytical method implementation and / or development (as required), support calibration program execution to ensure the present and future operational needs of the R&D Center LATAM.
We’re looking for a candidate with attention to details and passion for lab work.
What You’ll Do for Us Scientist in Analytical Chemistry and Microbiology is responsible to.
Perform complex and basic physical chemical analysis for Ingredients and Finished Products, listed but not limited to MSDS analyses, benzene, fats, protein, pH, acidity, brix, coliforms, molds & yeast, acidophilic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, total plate count, etc.
Operate specialized equipment as a routine activity and troubleshooting cases.
Chromatography (GC-MS, HPLC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Laser Diffraction and Spectrophotometer.
Assure the reliability and accuracy of the results as well as the standardization of the laboratory activities through the creation of operating procedures, implementation of new analytical methods, validation and related quality documentation.
Responsible for the Maintenance and Calibration program for the microbiology area and support the Maintenance and Calibration program of the R&D Labs and Analytical Chemistry Lab to assure the correct performance of lab equipment.
Support the implementation and maintenance of LIMS.
Networking with other analytical teams on different sites.
Conduct training about analytical and microbiology topics for internal stakeholders.
Support microbiology environmental monitoring program execution.
Support pilot plant and R&D laboratory process equipment release (ATP and microbiological sampling).
Ensure lab digitized documentation and logbooks are fully completed and maintained to ensure traceability.
Qualification & Requirements Functional skills.
Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology or related field with experience in physicochemical and microbiological analytical tests.
2+ years of relevant industry experience and a core training in a relevant food science.
Knowledge of laboratory safety.
Knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation to include the range, use, repair, calibration, and maintenance.
Proven multifunctional Teamwork.
Desirable skills Communication skills, both written and verbally in English.
Knowledge on digital tools and database development to capture and extract information.
Food Quality Assurance and Quality system knowledge.

Ability to work in a networked and diverse organization.
