The successful candidate will be based in Mexico City and the main responsibility will be supporting analysts of the global Sovereign and International Public Finance Ratings Practice, a growing team where high performers will have a real opportunity for progression.

The role requires the candidate to interact with many participants in the Sovereign and Sub-Sovereign team.
As a Research Assistant, you will be working as part of the Global Sovereign Ratings group at S&P Global Ratings.
We prepare our most successful Research Assistant to become our future team analysts and to act as spokespersons.
Responsibilities.
The successful candidate is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, is customer-oriented, and demonstrates excellent presentation skills.
Your responsibilities also include.
Supporting senior analysts in analyzing complex credit ratings to new and current governments within Latin America.
Deeply understanding financial statements and preparing detailed forecasts.
Producing and maintaining multiple databases Researching information that supports the analysis and commentaries Provide support in the rating process from engagement to rating assignment with minimal supervision.
Analyze original, non-routine problems in a timely, orderly and insightful manner.
Be an analytical role model and mentor junior analysts.
What We’re Looking For.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our Sovereign and International Public Finance Ratings Practice within the team that specializes in conducting credit analysis on sovereign governments across Latin America as well as subnational entities within the region.

We are looking for a rigorous, hard-working, highly motivated and skilled team player who can demonstrate analytical skills, maintain, and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis Basic Qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business or a related field Professional experience 1+ years for a Rating Analyst within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of financial analysis.
Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis Proficiency with calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with strict and tight deadline Experience in managing, interpreting, and synthesizing data for analytical purposes Strong interpersonal and communication skills Team player with excellent time management skills Project management skills with multitasking abilities Fluent in English (Portuguese language knowledge will be a plus) Strong Excel skills (including formulas, pivot tables, data, filters) Diligent and intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed Conduct with a strong professional behavior Preferred Qualifications.
Advanced PowerPoint and database application skills Knowledge of programming languages (e.
.
MATLAB, Python, R or VBA) Prior experience with data analysis.
