Position Summary.
The Quality Engineer is accountable to ensure a quality product is manufactured to meet or exceed our customer expectations.
The Quality Engineer establishes and maintains accurate process recipes for operations to safely produce products that consistently meet codes, specifications, and customer requirements at the lowest cost.
The Quality Engineer is accountable to continuously improve the manufacturing process to eliminate waste, improve safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the product.
Duties and Responsibilities.
• Ensure we have a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and help build a culture where safety is a priority.
• Support the QMS and the Quality Policy.
• Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures support the technical requirements as well as the safety of our employees.
• Develop risk assessments for critical tasks.
• Ensure that customer satisfaction is paramount when designing, implementing, and maintaining processes and quality systems.
• Identify, understand, and teach personnel the critical product characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product.
• Develop procedures and systems to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Support experiments or trials for new/existing products to ensure they meet customer’s fitness for use.
• Address customer complaints, including service exceptions and claim dollars; determine the root causes, implement corrective actions, and give feedback to the customer.
• Manage daily process audits to review critical product characteristics, process variables, and implement sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets.
• Determine process consistency and capability (Cpk).
• Implement control charting schemes for critical process variables.
• Develop quality control plans to ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost.
• Conduct process and materials audits and implement corrective actions to ensure product consistency and maximum volume.
• Identify and eliminate special causes of product and process variation.
• Analyze product test, process data, and make recommendations to optimize product performance.
• Network with other divisions as required, to identify and implement best practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Coach, counsel, and train all employees on process control.
• Manage the calibration process of all test, and manufacturing equipment.
• Provide support to all leadership driven quality initiatives in the plant.
• Train employees in process control procedures • Work in a team environment where accountability for compliance of all quality systems and customer satisfaction is paramount.
• Communicate expectations around continuous improvement with all team members.
• Provide ongoing operations statistical updates to lead team and employees in a manner which employees can understand and use the information to improve process and product outcomes.
• Utilize Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Be an agent for positive change, continually raising the bar with the objective of attaining and sustaining world class manufacturing performance.
• Other duties as assigned by the QA Management.
Knowledge & Skills.
• Strong Microsoft Suite skills.
Excel, Access, Word, Power Point.
• Familiarity with Total Quality Management, Six Sigma methods and Minitab software.
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
• Good analytical skills.
• Very detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to maintain Confidentiality and Time Management.
• Ability to read Schematics, Drawings, Process Charts and Procedures.
• Experience with electronic test and mechanical measuring equipment and tools.
Qualifications &  Education Required.
• Bachelor’s degree, Engineering discipline preferred.
• Bilingual 100%.
Experience Required.
• Minimum of 5 years-experience in a quality function within a manufacturing or technical environment.
• Understand the manufacturing processes and quality/continuous improvement systems such as.
Lean Manufacturing, and LPA (Layered Process Audits).
• Lean certification or evidence of lean manufacturing experience (Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred)) • Previous experience in measuring process capability.
• Previous experience engaging with customers and adhering to customer needs.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands.
• Work typically takes place in a normal office environment requiring sitting, walking, lifting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
• Travel between floors and office buildings may be required.
• Environmental conditions include noise, vibration, oils, solvents, chemicals.
• Ability to communicate with and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong background in statistical process control techniques.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or projects at one time.
• International travel potentially up to 25% of the time.
