This position reports to R&D Team Lead Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months).
Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed.
You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
During this internship, you will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a system for ship automation.
The focus is on computer vision and machine learning algorithms.
You will work with real-world data from sensors such as camera and radar.

Main stakeholders are ABB Marine & Ports.
You will be mainly responsible for.
• Exploration of current challenges in ABB Marine via direct interaction with ABB R&D units • Review of academic literature • Design, evaluation and documentation of potential solutions • Quick prototyping of solutions through proof-of-concept implementations Qualifications for the role You currently pursue a degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or similar field You are interested in at least one of the following fields.
data analytics, machine learning, computer vision You have experience with Python and PyTorch; experience with ROS2 is a plus You are willing to learn and quickly adapt to new research topics You are self-motivated and have an hands-on attitude You are able to think conceptually and express ideas clearly and convincingly You are at ease communicating in English Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application We appreciate applications that include a CV, cover letter and a detailed overview of courses taken during studies.
