GL Manager At Tenneco we are embarking on a new journey on Global Business Services, willing to expand our capabilities to do the work in a more efficient and effective manner.
Now we are hiring a General Ledger (GL) Lead within the Record to Report team who will have responsibilities on month end closing, reconciliation, reporting, audit, continuous improvements initiatives.
This is a great opportunity to join to our Center of Excellence within the Global Finance Shared Services   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
As GL Lead, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy of financial records, and driving continuous process improvements.
This position involves supervising a team, managing complex accounting processes, and supporting activities transitioned to our Finance Shared Services.
Team Supervision.
Supervise a team of GL accountants and subject matter experts, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure high standards of accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting Journal Entries.
Oversee the preparation, calculation, and posting of complex journal entries, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
Financial Reporting.
Load/Supervise financial data into OneStream, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
Review and ensure the timely completion of balance sheet account reconciliations, analyzing discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Intracompany reconciliation, analysis and reporting of aged items Process Improvement.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the GL function.
Lead initiatives to streamline accounting operations and improve financial controls.
Activities Transition Supervision.
Oversee the transition of accounting activities to the Finance Shared Services, ensuring smooth process handoffs and providing ongoing support and supervision to the team.
Compliance and Reporting.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
Stakeholder Collaboration.
Work closely with various departments to resolve accounting issues, provide insights, and support financial decision-making.
Develop and provide training to the team - workshops, lessons learned sessions, and refresher programs related to the systems and tools implemented and used across the Finance function Follow up on projects/ initiatives, identify risks and obstacles to meet deadlines, as well as proposed corrective measures.
Ensure compliance with company policies & procedures.
Support Global Process Owners Directors & FSSC Management when necessary.
Part of projects as per the Shared Services needs     REQUIREMENTS.
Skills / Experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
National or International accounting certification is preferred At least 5 years of experience in GL accounting or relevant finance roles, with a strong background in accounting and reporting; US GAAP knowledge is a plus Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Compliance and Ethics.
In-depth understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls, with a strong commitment to maintaining ethical practices and confidentiality Technical Expertise.
Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.
., SAP) and financial consolidation tools such as OneStream.
Strong Excel skills are essential Excellent English skills - written + verbal; any other language will be a plus   Leadership Skills.
